FOSTERED AND FLUSTERED
Laugh, Cry, Repeat
We never set out to be foster parents; honestly, it wasn’t even on our radar. But life has a way of throwing curveballs, and when we found out my wife’s niece was placed in foster care, we knew we had to step up—family is family, after all. Also, she came as a "package deal" with her half-sister. Suddenly, we went from zero kids to two overnight, and let’s just say, life has been a rollercoaster ever since. These girls are incredible, though—they’ve taught us more than we could ever imagine, including how to navigate a system that’s as dysfunctional as a family reunion with no snacks. Speaking of family reunions, we’re now fostering their baby brother, too. Three kids, a complicated bio mom, and a system that seems like it’s held together with duct tape? We’ve got stories. Welcome to our chaotic, love-filled, snark-fueled adventure in foster care.

WHY I STARTED THIS SITE
Let's be real...

foster care can be terrifying, frustrating, and sometimes downright painful. Over the past two years, we’ve faced moments where the system seemed more like an obstacle course than a support network, and there were plenty of times we weren’t sure what the next day would bring. This blog started as my outlet for venting my frustrations with a system that feels chaotic and broken at times, but it's grown into something more—a place where I can share what I’ve learned, and hopefully, offer some support to those navigating the same storm.
Foster care is full of highs and lows, but along the way, I’ve gained experience, resilience, and—on the good days—hope. I created this space to connect foster caregivers like you with resources, information, and the kind of advice that only someone who's been through it can offer. Whether it's links to my favorite products, services that make life easier, or just some honest, real talk about the challenges we face, I want this site to be a place where you can find some of what you need to keep going.
So welcome to our world—where the system might be a mess, but love still shows up every day.
